Getting to know New Orleans Area Adults 50+.

For many years, marketers considered age 25-49 the “buying and acquiring” years in the normal lifecycle.  But times have changed.

Today Americans are working longer, living longer and enjoying life longer.  Baby Boomers are breaking all stereotypes for life after 50.  Adults over 50 years old control over 70% of our nation’s wealth.

New Orleans is no exception to this trend.  We took a deep dive into new research from Marshall Marketing to learn more about Adults 50+ in the New Orleans area. 

The biggest takeaway from the data:

Almost 40% of the New Orleans Metro area adult population fits into the Secure and Mature segment, meaning they are 50+ with a household income of over $50,000.

Becoming More Digitally Active:

Though they are more likely to be using a computer online than a smartphone, that gap is narrowing.

  • 83% have a computer
  • 81% Have Internet Access
  • 58% Have Smartphones with Internet Access

Additionally, a higher percentage of Adults 50+ recently purchased:

  • New Televisions - most of which will now have some sort of internet connectivity
  • Computer/Mobile Device
