For decades, manufacturers and national brands have dedicated budgets for marketing dollars to be spent by local businesses that carry their products.   These co-op advertising programs drive consumers to local merchants to buy the manufacturers’ products.   In these shared cost ad programs, the manufacturer refunds the local merchant for a portion, which can range from 30% to 100%, of the advertising costs and supplies the creative elements for the ads.
